Sebastian Watzl is Associate Professor of philosophy at the University of Oslo. In 2018-2019 he is visiting professor at CVBE. From Autumn 2019 he will lead a newly established Centre for Philosophy and the Sciences at the University of Oslo. Sebastian works in the philosophy of mind, cognitive science and biology, as well as philosophy of action and metaphysics. One focus of Sebastian's research has been the mental capacity of attention and its significance for understanding the mind, consciousness, and action. His book Structuring Mind (OUP, 2017) is on these topics. Currently, Sebastian is interested in perception and its distinction from cognition, as well as the ethical and epistemic significance of attention.
